“Great place - right next to lots of fun spots, but quiet at night. Also unique to hang with the neighborhood chickens and cats”

“This place is super quirky and fun. I loved saying hi to the cats on the front step when I came back in the evenings. Tampa was going through a weird cold snap while I was there, but the space heaters and extra blankets were enough to keep me warm. The only real drawback of this place is also one of the fun aspects: the wild chickens. Unfortunately, a nearby rooster decided to start announcing his presence really early most mornings (2:30am one day!). The owners did everything they could to mitigate this by providing a sound machine and earplugs. (I'm afraid of sleeping through my alarm with earplugs, so I didn't use them. If I had, I'm sure the rooster wouldn't have bothered me as much, so that's on me.) They also had chicken feed in the back for feeding the chickens which was a neat idea. Overall, a cute place in a great location.”

“The Roost House is a gem in a great location. The house is exactly what we expected. Great bathroom with natural light, great water pressure/temperature, a more than capable kitchen and a comfortable bed. I’m not sure how you travel but This was perfect for me. Make breakfast in the AM and then come back only to sleep. It was clean, stylish, comfortable, and peaceful! The location is incredible. Short walk to the coolest restaurants and bars in Ybor Street. Yet far enough where you can find that peace and quiet that allows you to rest and recharge for the next day or your next adventure! The roosters are actually a fun aspect to this neighborhood. You can feed them if you want or keep to yourself. They add to the experience and if you foresee them keeping you up at night, worry not! There’s earplugs available for you courtesy or Trey and Erin. They really thought of everything for you. This is now my go to Tampa vacation Airbnb! Thanks again Trey & Erin!”

“My partner and I had a 3 night stay at Ybor Roost while visiting friends in Tampa and it was a great experience. Trey and Erin did a great job of providing an AirBnB that was practical but also a bit fun and kitschy. The backyard is a great place to hang out outside with friends. Location can’t be beat in historic Ybor being only 2 blocks from E 7th St. Highly recommend. If we ever find ourselves passing through Tampa again, would definitely stay at Ybor Roost. The roosters and chickens are no joke - they basically live in the empty lot next to the house. The earplugs and white noise machine Trey and Erin provide are super thoughtful. So is the bird seed so you can feed them! We really enjoyed this unique character of the neighborhood however if you are sensitive to noise or the presence of roosters, this may not be the place to stay.”

“Great tiny home! Stocked up and super cozy, whoever I wouldn’t return due to the roosters. We were up every night of our stay from 2am- 7 am as the roosters wouldn’t stop yacking..... leaving dead tired and not relaxed”

I am so glad you thought the home was great, stocked and super cozy just bummed the location didn't meet your expectations. Ybor is definitely an urban, eclectic, entertaining district that welcomes all types--unfortunately it's just not for everyone and that's ok. For those that love walkability and being in the heart of the district with easy access to restaurants, shows, bars, and nightlife it's part of the experience. With its Key West attributes, including the free-roaming chickens throughout ALL of Ybor, the chickens do remind you of their presence. We provide ear plugs and white noise machines to drown out the cock-a-doodles, but they are part of the city charm even in the wee hours. Thanks again for staying with us, I'm glad your experience at the Roost was great.

New Years in Ybor is one of my favorite times of year! I always enjoy the Outback bowl parade and you're right, the energy is contagious! Perhaps you'll come back next year and stay with us over NYE for a third year in a row and ring in 2020...if so, we would be honored!

“As described, this tiny house is a fun and unique space with all that you need, and in a very interesting part of the city with a rich character (and great coffee). Weekend nights are exciting, fun for people-watching on the streets if you're not up for attending the clubs in person, and with a soundscape to match, but if you'd rather a quiet night, Erin and Trey provide all the amenities (white noise machine, complimentary earplugs). We ordered in for supper which was easy, cooked some meals in house, and there are some great cafe's for coffee and breakfast (not to mention afternoon margaritas) within a 5min walk. Perhaps the truest testament of Erin and Trey's place are the notes written in the guest book, where there are guests that have returned time and time again, that speaks volumes.”

“This was a five-star experience! It's not fancy, or new, or plush, but it is absolutely adorable! The location was terrific if you want to be near Ybor but not be overrun by it. You're close enough to hear the bars at night, but not be annoyed. You're a five minute walk to the Columbia. On Erin's recommendation, I got reservations for dinner at the flamenco show there and it was the perfect 80th birthday celebration. The house is not large and if you're more than 2 people, someone gets the fold out. If that person is you, don't fret because it's super-comfortable. I had three great nights sleep (and I have chronic insomnia). There's plenty of coffee and what you need in the way of staples. "Coffee" being my family's primary "staple". Cute decor and very cool cigar box diorama art. And now to the very best part! The backyard and the chickens! We all loved ringing the bell to call the kids to breakfast and dinner. Natch, we had names for the all in the first hour. The peacock even photo-bombed me by jumping onto the fence while I was taking a picture with Rooster Cogburn. Anyway, it was a terrific weekend and we all thoroughly enjoyed hanging out in the roost! Thanks, Terry & Erin”

I am so glad you and your parents had a wonderful time. I loved that you shared their story with me about how they both grew up in Ybor decades ago and yet met many miles away. I'm glad their reunion and birthday celebration in Ybor was memorable. We would love to have you all back anytime!

“When we arrived, we had a welcoming committee on the front porch... 3 cats ! There was food to feed them, & the chickens. The Roost was clean, & quite spacious for a “Tiny House”. It was nice to have a decent sized kitchen & bathroom. I do suggest to use the earplugs, as the roosters can get loud. We stayed on a Friday night, and we were far enough removed from the main road that the noise from the clubs did not seem to bother us. I would definitely recommend “The Roost” to anyone looking for an alternative to overpriced hotels!”

“Charming place, fun decor, loved how everything is chicken-themed. And really great location — near everything in Ybor City, but just off the main strip so it's a quiet location. The roosters can get a bit loud sometimes in the early morning, but it's not too bad, and anyhow if you're staying in Ybor that's just par for the course. Great local recommendations in the little guidebook the owners put together. Loved this place overall, would stay here again.”
